This weekend, Belgrade hosts the International Games of Disabled Persons „Belgrade Open 2019“, which brings together more than 700 people from around 20 countries and will compete in 12 disciplines.
City Council member Zoran Adamovic welcomed athletes from other countries and thanked the Government of Serbia and the Secretariat for Sport and Youth for their support in organizing this event.
- It is a manifestation that is becoming traditional, with the aim of promoting and affirming the conditions and opportunities that the capital of Serbia offers in efforts to improve the living and working conditions of this population and improve their position in society – said Adamovic.
He said that we are all equal, inclusion, compassion and care for others should be a priority for each of us.
President of the Sports Federation of Belgrade Disabled Persons, Velimir Knezevic, said that this was the sixth event, aimed at promoting and affirming the conditions and opportunities that our city provides in efforts to improve the living and working conditions of this population and improve their position in society.
The organizer of the event „Belgrade Open“ is the Sports Federation of Persons with Disabilities Belgrade, and its maintenance is made possible with the support of the City of Belgrade and other partners, said Knezevic.
Athletes will compete in football, seating, volleyball, pigeonhole, chess, wheelchair, table tennis, karate, horseback riding, athletics. The competitions will be held in the SC „Olymp“ football balloon, the Athletic Hall, the Master Sports Center, the Republic Institute of Sport, the Milan Gale Muskatirovic Sports Center and the Hippodrome, where horse riding competitions will take place.
Admission to all locations is free.
