The traditional Serbian “Citroën Gallop Derby”, 97th in a row, was held on Sunday in front of the crowded stands of the Belgrade Hippodrome as part of the fourth racing day of the season. The most prestigious award in the seven-head competition was won by jockey Aleksandar Sasic with “First Thought”. The winner brought a laurel wreath and a prize worth as much as one million dinars.

During the week, many fellow citizens who decided to use the Sunday day and nice weather to visit the Hippodrome could enjoy a rich all-day program. The most cheerful visitors were children who, besides horse sightseeing, had the opportunity to try horseback riding for free. Visitors could enjoy eight races, five gallops and three trotting, with a total of as many as 70 horses participating.
